Monarch Automobile - History
In 1946 Ford Motor Company introduced the Monarch as mid-luxury models for their “Canadian” , Ford Dealerships . Monarch was simply a Mercury with different grills , and interior trim .
Monarch production stopped from 1958 during the presence of the Edsel and returned in 1961 for one year . Top Models of Ford were made more luxurious to take the place of the monarch after 1961.

From 1975 to 1980 mercury division built a Mercury Monarch as a compact model but that was a totally different automobile .
