After the war Leland began making luxury automobiles . The company went bankrupt after making only about 150 automobiles .

In 1922 Ford Motor Company bought Lincoln and by the fall of that year Henry Ford sold over 5,500 Lincoln Automobiles .
The first Lincolns were powered by a V8 flathead engine that produced 90 horsepower . This engine used a 60 degree cylinder separation when others of that time used a 90 degree .
