“Hupmobile Automobile Auto History”
The Hupp Motor Company was founded by Robert C Hupp (who had previously worked for Ford and Olds) and his brother Louis Hupp in 1908 . The first Hupmobile automobiles came on the market in 1909 . Sales were good for 1909 and 1910 but in 1911 the Hupp’s left the company after disagreements with their financial backers .

The Hupp Motor Car Company continued in business and was very successful and sales steadily increased . In 1924 a new and larger assembly plant was purchased to keep up with the demand for their cars . In 1928 Hupp Motor Car Company also bought the Chandler Motor Car company to increase production . In 1930 sales of the Hupmobile began to decrease and even though the company took steps to regain public popularity , sales failed to improve .
In 1932 the Hupp Cyclefender roadster did well on auto racing tracks , but this still did not help sales . In 1934 the Hupmobile ‘Aerodynamic’ was introduced as well as the 417-W low priced model . The 417 used a body built by Ford Motor Company . In 1938 Hupp acquired auto designs from the then closed down Cord Automobile Company , and used the designs to build their ‘Skylark’

model . A deal was then made with the Graham-Paige Motor Company to build the Hupmobile ‘Skylark’ . In the deal Graham-Paige sold the same car under the model name ‘Hollywood’ . there was a long time delay in the development and manufacture of the Skylark , that Hupmobile lost so much popularity that the company went out of business in 1939 .
