The ‘Mighty’ Ford Tonka 350 concept truck may not be far from reality ?
It is a heavy duty dual rear wheel ,crew cab Pick-Up truck . It has a 6.0 liter 32 valve turbocharged “Power-Stroke” Diesel engine that delivers 350 horsepower and 600 foot pounds of torque .
The Tonka uses a ‘Torquemaster’ system which allow the driver to manually transfer power to desired wheels , front to rear or side to side etc . The Tonka is equipped with a very sophisticated air suspension system that allows the truck to be lowered for easier entry or loading and then raised again to drive .
Running boards come out when the doors are opened and retracted when the doors are closed , for easier driver and passenger access . The truck is equipped with a lane departure systems that can warn the driver if the truck drifts out of the lane it is being driven in .

The Tonka uses a Hydraulic Launch Assist system (HLA) that is said to be capable of improving fuel mileage by 25 to 35 percent when driving during stop and start driving and city driving . This system stores energy that is normally wasted during deceleration and employs it in the form of hydraulic energy to assist acceleration . The emissions from this vehicle is said to be lower than any diesel engine on the road these days.
The lighting system on the Tonka is LED and provides brighter and better lighting while using less energy .
