The Ford Indigo concept of 1996 is powered by a 6.0 liter V12 engine that produces about 440 horsepower .

The acceleration from 0 to 60 miles per hour is less than 4 seconds and the top speed is about 170 mph . the Indigo was designed to demonstrate some of Fords Racing technology . Ever the 6 speed transaxle uses a shift control , which is mounted in the steering wheel similar to F1 racers . The V12 engine shares parts and design , with the Ford 3.0 liter , Duratec V6 engine used in the Ford Taurus . This V12 engine was also used in some Aston Martin models . It is said that this engine is extremely efficient and is capable of 28 miles per gallon US on the highway .
