Essex Automobile - History

Essex was a line of automobile models introduced by Hudson 1919 to compete with the lower priced auto market of that time . In 1922 the Essex Motor Company name was dropped and Essex became a Hudson model . Essex was known to durable and in 1919 one was driven at an average speed of over 60 miles per hour for 50 hours . In 1923 an Essex won the Pikes Peak Hill Climb . In 1932 the Essex Terra-Plane was introduced and in 1933 the Terra-Plane name replaced the Essex .
