Chalmers Automobile - History .

Chalmers Motors began production of automobiles in 1908 in Detroit Michigan . From 1910 to 1920 Chalmers vehicles sold well but than sales declined , likely due to their high price of $1500.oo which was about 3 times the price of a Model T Ford at that time . Chalmers Motors merged with Maxwell Motor Company in 1920 about the same time that Walter P Chrysler took over the control of Maxwell . In 1923 the Chalmers models were discontinued .
