Brake Service
Brake service is most common to be suggested on vehicles that are driven very low mileage and on vehicles over two years old . A brake service is commonly recommended as a cure for brake noise such as brake squeal , when the brake pads or linings are not worn to the point of replacement . A brake service is also recommended from time to time to remove dust contaminants or rust from brake parts , to prolong there life .

On a brake system the vehicle should be road tested first to verify the proper operation of the brake system . Then all the wheels are removed and the brake are inspected for worn or damaged parts etc .
The brake pads are removed , cleaned and deglazed . The brake rotors are deglazed and any rust is removed.
All brake pins and brake sliders are cleaned and lubricated , to work freely . Caliper and bushings etc are cleaned and lubricated as needed .
On drum brakes , the drums are removed , cleaned and deglazed and any rust is moved . Brake dust is cleaned from all parts . The brake shoes are cleaned and deglazed . The backing plates are cleaned and lubricated . The brakes are adjusted to specifications .
The park brake actuators should be cleaned and lubricated and the park brake cables should also be lubricated . The park brake should be adjusted as needed .
The vehicle should then be re road tested to verify the proper operation of all brake systems .
