Air Conditioning systems should be checked and tested for leaks etc after about 3 to 4 years on any vehicle , at about the same interval as the cooling system service . On an Air Conditioning Service , the system is Tested for proper operation and proper temperature . It is also tested for leaks . Major leaks would be reported to the vehicle owner , and repaired if requested . Some very slight seepage from an air conditioning system is normal due to the constant and large variation in the temperature of the system . The seals expand and contract with these changes allowing a very small amount of seepage from time to time .

The main part of the service is recharge the cooling agent (R134) and the compressor oil to specifications . After the service is complete and all tests are done , the system is deodorized .
